That this point and time my wife and I are living with family and the time to move on has come and Due to illness I have not been able to work a regular job so I have been looking for a way to make money from home maybe make some wooden boxes carve some spoons ect.. and try to sell them on E-bay or something like that. any input or advice you all may have would go a long ways as I have been tring to get things together on a less then shoestring budget here. Well HAPPY NEW YEARS to all that read this and please post if the mood hits you. God Bless

As for the woodworking well still no bench but that will come with time. The money is in short supplies these day my better halfs job did not work out and was short lived. Aaa ask maybe next time. May Flowers Kinda

Well not flowers pre-say things are moving in a positive direction these day. My lovely wife has managed to find work after looking for over 6 months. So money will be less of a problem soon we hope. I have been researching work benches and found one I think will work for my situation. More on that later just wanted to update you all seeing how I have not been on much. So more to come soon.

IT'S ALL GOOD

I know I have not posted much about woodworking on here lately I do apologize for that. I wanted to keep this blog as neutral as possible but sometimes you need to speak your mind even if no one wants to hear it. So, back on track there not much going on these days money, health, weather, etc.. have all played a hand in that. However I did help a friend repair his basement floor which was a workout and a half. And my back paid dearly for it, I am hoping the next few months will be better money wise and I can get back to rehabbing my saws and start on my bench, I also need to go back to my friends to kill a few electrons and make some spoon blank for carving. So as I have more to post I will do so please hang in there and keep checking back.

A FEW THOUGHTS FROM THE FORGOTTEN

Well the weather and my health have taken a turn for the better. The sun is shining and I feel much better, and I know I have not posted in a while due to there is not much to say, So maybe I will just say what is on my mind { warning bitch alter }. There is a saying that something is only worth what you are willing to pay for it and I agree so why are we { the country as a whole } willing to pay more for thing then they are worth. Is a gallon of gas really worth 4.00 is the car your driving really worth 30,000 the house you live in 2-300,000. do we need 2-4000 sq ft homes etc.. I know times are tough I for one have lived in the lower income bracket all my life so I have learned to do with less but the problem is I have no more to give. Due to health issues and the economy I now live on the income of what most people bring home in a week for the whole month and support 2 people on that income yes I do get public assistance but that has been cut back to less then 130 amonth. But food a

The Good Bad And The Ugly

Image
Well lets start with the bad and ugly. It was a sad day here in Northeast Ohio as there was a shooting in a local area high school 3 young people lost their lives and 2 are injured. This is a very sad note for our school system and country as a whole. I find it very sad that we as a whole have come to this where the only way to settle thing is by killing an other person. My heart and prays go to the families of the victems and hope they will find peace someday soon. As for the shooter well it is sad in it's own right that a young man thought this was the only way to solve his problems. Enough said on this sad note and I will let you know if anything new comes of it.     Now onto the good. The weather and my health have truned to the better I am feeling good thing are getting bad to normal and the sun is (was) shining. I was able to finally do somethings outside that was needed. One i got to take my faithful shop dog (aka Bullet) for a much needed walk around the block we

Spring Is In The Air

Well the weather is getting nicer more often and as we speak it is 40 Deg, here and the sun is shining. Like I posted earlier I said I was going to start on my saws to clean them up, But, my health has let me down this weekend. I have come down with bronchitis and a sinus infection. I actually got the sinus infection first and it traveled down to my chest and so on. Due to the treatments for cancer I am more likely to have these things pop up on me because of the reduced immune system. They said it mite get better with time but it is what it is and I will deal with it. So for now it is doctoring myself up and getting over this so when the really nice weather hits I will be ready. So for now everyone stay safe and healthy and if it is still cold where you live warm too.        On a side note my lovely wife has had a few interviews this month and we hope one will pan out. She has also started looking into doing some jewerly making and hopes to maybe sell it online for now.

Trash or Treasure

Image
Well I bought a couple of saws off E-Bay a week or so ago and I have them in my hands. I have already taken the totes off so that I can clean the plates of any rust and grime with out damaging them.     One is a D-23 (post WWII) but is in very nice shape just some light surface rust nothing big, a good sharpening should put this baby back to work.   The other one, well hard to say the plate is not original to the tote and may be of new stock that someone tryed to make look old. There is no etching or stamping for PPI on the plate and the holes have been re drilled to fit the tote. Sooo I will clean off all the rust and bluing that has been put on it and see what I spent my money on. If nothing else it will make a good practice saw for tuning and sharpening. also may have a go at engraving. as for the tote, well I think it will be used only as a template for a new one, and then placed on a shelf as it is in bad shape and I do not want to damage it

Every Journey Begins With the First Step

Image
So The ground hog said 6 more weeks that's ok with me. Not that I like the snow and cold (not that we have had much here in the buckeye state) but, because I am still trying to get tools together and setup. I have some older planes that need to be gone over to see if they will still cut the mustard also bought a couple of saws off  E-bay that need to be sharpened etc.. But, the biggest reason is find someplace to set up a shop. You see at the moment my lovely wife and I are living with my brother due to health and economic reasons, and with the way things are going with jobs in Northeast Ohio the wife is having a hard time finding work so that we may move into our own place. That being said it does not mean that I will be doing nothing. I have a friend that has offered me the use of his shop space but he is a machine man and I wish to be a hand tool person. So the real challenge is going to be how do I move my tools and supplies back and forth between to places. I could leave the

The journey Begins

Well as the new year has begun so has a new journey in my life. I am coming up on the 4th year since my last cancer treatment and all is well, kinda. the fact of the matter is I'm going crazy, trying to live on a fixed income and stay healthy has it's draw backs. The 1 is not enough money to do much of anything. So, what does this have to do with woodworking you ask. Well everything, for one I love working with my hands and keeping me busy is a major plus. The second, is I love working with wood. So put the two together you get a new journey and learnig experience. I have done some woodworking for friends and have craved a few love spoons for family members in the last few years and had the big , "DUHHH why did I not do this before" moment. So bear with me and follow along as I stumble down this new road of life and feel free to share the wealth of knowledge you all have with me.
