Well finish making flute number 2 for my self this time I used some of the wood I got from the piano place. And carved a the totem from some old tree limbs.
So The ground hog said 6 more weeks that's ok with me. Not that I like the snow and cold (not that we have had much here in the buckeye state) but, because I am still trying to get tools together and setup. I have some older planes that need to be gone over to see if they will still cut the mustard also bought a couple of saws off E-bay that need to be sharpened etc.. But, the biggest reason is find someplace to set up a shop. You see at the moment my lovely wife and I are living with my brother due to health and economic reasons, and with the way things are going with jobs in Northeast Ohio the wife is having a hard time finding work so that we may move into our own place. That being said it does not mean that I will be doing nothing. I have a friend that has offered me the use of his shop space but he is a machine man and I wish to be a hand tool person. So the real challenge is going to be how do I move my tools and supplies back and forth between to places. I ...
Greeting all hope you had a wonderfull holiday so far. It was a quite one here but thats ok, I like it that way all the big fuss and noise of large get to gethers just don't fit me these days. I was just wondering if A: anyone is still reading my post and B: if so what are your plans for next year the big ressolution thing is coming up for me I am working on being more independent money and home wise. That this point and time my wife and I are living with family and the time to move on has come and Due to illness I have not been able to work a regular job so I have been looking for a way to make money from home maybe make some wooden boxes carve some spoons ect.. and try to sell them on E-bay or something like that. any input or advice you all may have would go a long ways as I have been tring to get things together on a less then shoestring budget here. Well HAPPY NEW YEARS to all that read this and please post if the mood hits you. God Bless
Well I bought a couple of saws off E-Bay a week or so ago and I have them in my hands. I have already taken the totes off so that I can clean the plates of any rust and grime with out damaging them. One is a D-23 (post WWII) but is in very nice shape just some light surface rust nothing big, a good sharpening should put this baby back to work. The other one, well hard to say the plate is not original to the tote and may be of new stock that someone tryed to make look old. There is no etching or stamping for PPI on the plate and the holes have been re drilled to fit the tote. Sooo I will clean off all the rust and bluing that has been put on it and see what I spent my money on. If nothing else it will make a good practice saw for tuning and sharpening. also may have a go at engraving. as for the tote, well I think it will be used only as a template for a new one, and then placed on a shelf as it is in bad shape and I d...
